The French equine veterinary association was created in 1969. It gathers more than 450 veterinarians that practise solely or partly horse medicine or surgery.
This association aims at providing its members with opportunities of permanent vocational training, and of thinking about the various matters that can occur in this professional domain. Thus, lecturers from several countries, chosen because of their expertise, are invited to yearly seminars on specific topics.

Moreover, specialized workgroups, composed of a few members, meet up to discuss about some professional problems, as for example : legal responsibility, sports medicine, or developing internal and external communication.

Every quarter, a newsletter is sent to every member, so that they keep in touch with one another, and in order to provide them with the most recent information about equine medicine and surgery.
